Now all lovers of the New England Patriots raise your hand
Now all haters of the New England Patriots raise your hand
WOOOHOOO!! The Pats are in the Super Bowl (again) this year!!! That means that love ’em or hate ’em, at least most of the country has a real rooting interest in the big game. Whether you’re a fan of football or just a fan of all the new multi-million dollar commercials, Super Bowl Sunday is the time to bring out all the treats and sweets and totally pig out during the last football game of the year (and calories don’t count all day).
Copycat Trader Joe’s Artichoke and Jalapeño Dip is one of the easiest and tastiest dips I’ve ever made. I’m one of those people who adore the original TJ’s chilled, creamy, kind of spicy, kind of mild, “wish there were more artichokes and jalapeños in it” cheese dip. What I don’t adore are some of it’s additives so I made decided to make my own.
When I made this copycat Trader Joe’s Artichoke and Jalapeño Dip, I didn’t use any of those unnecessary funky-ass ingredients. I bought all-natural and organic ingredients and it turned out way tastier than the store bought dip. AND it makes a shite-ton!
The package’s ingredient lists contains Monterey jack cheese but I substituted pepper jack (Monterey with hot chili peppers) in my version (I also switched out a few other ingredients too). The pepper jack cheese definitely adds a slight one-up on flavor and an extra level of spiciness. Since my motto is “the spicier…the better”, I added an extra tablespoon of diced jalapeños to my bowl.
This flavor of this copycat Trader Joe’s Artichoke and Jalapeño Dip gets even better the longer it sits around. I’ve had some in my refrigerator going on 5 days now and the flavor continues to develop. Any dip that can be made several days ahead of party time is a friend of mine indeed. Yay!!!
Apparently, I’m on some sort of an artichoke recipe spree. In less than 2 weeks, I’ve posted 2 artichoke recipes here and here, and I’ve been making steamed fresh artichokes in my Instant Pot at home almost every night too. I might need an artichoke intervention soon.
Truth: I don’t think I’m ever going to buy TJ’s version of this dip again. Not when it only takes 10 minutes to make this recipe, has natural ingredients, tastes better, and makes 4 cups for a fraction of the cost of the store bought stuff!
